Sometimes I’m Deep

16 06 2008

On my way to work today I had the sudden urge to spit some poetic ish. So I whipped out my trusty Sidekick LX and dropped a few lines. Take a glance if you like. Now remember I’m an artist and I’m sensitive about my ish (thanks Erykah)….

Something about the rain always smelled good to me
Never really understood it
Never really cared why
But the way the earth smelled just lingered in the air
Never close enough to get to it
Never far enough to get through it
An infatuation I could say
Across his face read the pain
The smell didn’t matter anymore
From that day it never smelled the same
I feel the rain slipping from my eyes
Just as it would slip from the clouds
In plain sight for all to see
Just how much the rain meant to me
As we cannot stop the rain
I cannot forget that smell
On my pillow, in my sheets, on my clothes
A smell I know all too well
I forgot just how the rain made me feel
But I woke up today and faced the rain
There it was
The rain always smelled good to me
Never really understood it
Never really cared why
Everything bright, was brighter
And I still don’t care why

I smelled the rain
