10 Albums, 10+ Years Later, Still in Rotation

1. Lauryn Hill – The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill (1998), Sony [Amazon] – There is no one in the world that can refute this classic album. It was the very first CD I ever had and I literally didn’t listen to it for years. In 1998, I didn’t appreciate the artistry that went into this masterpiece. Now, in 2010, you can’t help but want that old thing back © Jay Z. Anyone who is a lover of Hip Hop would admit that Lauryn Hill was everything that you would want music to be. She was the original triple threat. She can sing. She can rap. She can play instruments. Before the Beyonce’s. Before the Rihanna’s. Before the Lady GaGa’s. Before the rise of this crazy pop nonsense – there was real Hip Hop that didn’t begin with Lauryn Hill, but it might have ended with her. My only wish is that she would give us some more material and less crazy.

Album Classics:: Ex-Factor, Nothing Even Matters, I Used to Love Him, and Doo Wop (That Thing).

2. Musiq Soulchild – Aijuswanaseing (2000), Def Soul Classics [Amazon] - This is the only Musiq album that I can listen to all the way through. No skipping. There was something so raw about his first album. It was just raw soul and emotion. I’m not sure what happened down the line, but this album is defiantly my favorite one of his and it will forever remain in rotation to me.

Album Classics:: Just Friends, 143, Love, Settle for My Love, and L is Gone

10 Television Shows that Make my Cable Box Happy

(l to r) NeNe Leaks, Lisa Wu-Hartwell, Sheree Whitfield, & Kandi Burruss

1. The Real Housewives Series (Bravo), Thursdays @ 10pm – Even though all the “Housewife” series give me much enjoyment, I do love my Atlanta sisthas and the New York ladies. I got into the Jersey season but I didn’t dig the fact that 75% of the cast are related and then Teresa might as well be, because she’s know the Manzo’s (Dina, Caroline & Jacqueline) for over 10 years. Anyhow… I follow all the series’ pretty much to the “T” and I enjoy all of them equally. Supposedly, there is a Real Housewives of DC coming soon or in the works, that should be interesting but I’m sure it wont be. People in DC aren’t that interesting (we’ll see). As of late, my all time favorite housewives (and non wives) would be:: Bethenny (NY), Countess LuAnne (NY), Vicki (OC), Kandi (ATL), Lisa (ATL), Caroline (NJ), and Teresa (NJ). Tune in!

2. Law & Order: SVU & Criminal Intent (USA, TNT, Bravo, NBC, etc…), Anyday @ anytime – I usually never catch a “new” episode, I almost always come across a marathon of some sort on one of the aforementioned stationed and even though I’ve seen just about every episode, I still watch. I enjoy the original Law & Order but not as much as I enjoy the casts of SVU & CI. Usually by the description that Comcast gives me, I can tell which one it is and if I’ve seen it or not. There is only one that I refuse to watch and that’s because it reflects so closely a real-life crime that people I knew were killed in. The episode is called Senseless and it’s a mirror image of the  Newark Schoolyard Shootings [story here] that left Deshon Harvey and three other Delaware State University students dead, for no reason.

Hey kids and kiddos. This is the beginning of “List” series in 2010. I’ll be doing 1o lists, on 10 topics, featuring 10 people, places or things! Are you excited? (Pretend to be).

Let’s kick this series off right with:

10 People Whose 15-Minutes is Up

Monica "Danger" Leon

1. Monica “Danger” Leon – Whose only claim to fame was, being a contestant on the VH1 reality show, For The Love of Ray J: Season 1. I believe she was one of the last three or four girls remaining and then Willie Norwood Jr. sent her ass packing because she was a little too emotionally unstable. As of late, she’s been bumping her gums to anyone that will listen about…well whatever those voices in her head make up. I’m really beginning to think that someone needs to intervene and really help this chick out. Didn’t she lose custody of her daughter? I also heard some radio broadcast where she decided to talk raspy ish about Nick and Mariah (her daughter’s aunt and uncle). Her 15-minutes needs to be snatched away from her and she needs to spend more than a few nights in a well-paded room that smells of stale air, and crazy folk!
